PoolPerf ® product maintenance guidelines
While there’s no doubt that powder-coated aluminium is superior to glass in many respects, and you won’t need to maintain it or keep it clean it in the same way, there are some benefits to giving it a “bit of love” occasionally, so we’ve highlighted the things you can do to ensure you get the most of your purchase right here.
Cleaning Tips
Although it’s true that PoolPerf ® almost never needs cleaning, there will always be exceptions to this rule, such as when spills or splatters occur, or scuff marks appear after impact.
If you do need to do some cleaning, you will want to focus on non-abrasive materials to preserve your marine-grade, powder-coated finish. Unlike glass fencing, PoolPerf ® is incredibly low-maintenance and does not require intense scrubbing, squeegeeing, or harsh chemicals. The basics are:
- Stick with a regular garden hose to clear away any excess grime and dirt, there’s no need for high pressure hoses.
- Use a soft cloth or sponge, but avoid scourers, wire brushes, steel wool and other abrasive surfaces to avoid scratching the powder coating.
- Steer clear of highly alkaline/acidic chemicals, instead, use a mixture of warm water and a mild, pH-neutral soapy detergent (like dishwashing liquid) and always rinse away the soap residue with clean water.
Safety Tips
While there’s nothing you need to do to PoolPerf ® to keep things safe, the environment around your pool can have an impact, especially if not monitored, as your environment is forever changing.
- Ensure all gates, latches and hinges are kept free from debris to ensure their self-closing functionality is maintained. You’d be surprised how easily a fallen twig or leaf can cause a gate to stop latching correctly, especially in bushy or windy areas.
- Regularly test your loclks and latches to ensure they are actually latching smoothly and securely for safety compliance. Although we offer some of the most durable equipment you can buy, a rogue paddle pop stick, or poorly placed piece of chewing gum can cause all sorts of problems that you simply don’t need.
- If you’re located near the beach, or if you have a salt water pool, then pay attention to salt accumulation around latches and hinges too, as in rrare cases, this can build up and cause parts to fail.
